Merry Christmas!!!

I can't believe it has already arrived and is almost over.  For me, the best part of Christmas is the buildup.  I love the music, the movies (Charlie Brown especially!), the lights, the parties, the service, the cards, the shopping, the cooking and of course time with my family.  This year I fit it all in! Christmas provides a great opportunity to serve those around you.  I want to share a family tradition of ours that I absolutely love.
Every year before Christmas my extended family gathers together and decorates LOTS of sugar cookies. After we are done decorating, everybody piles into cars and we head off to the Nursing home in Lehi, Utah.  There we deliver our cookies and sing a selection of Christmas songs.  Looking around at my family as we sing, I can't help but notice that everyone is smiling.  Service truly is such a great way to invite the Spirit into your life.  I am grateful for my opportunity to provide this service with my family each year. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas full of love!

I am sure most of you, like me, are addicted to pinterest by now.  If you have no clue what I am talking about, go become acquainted http://pinterest.com/ .  My boards are now many! I have a Style, Beauty, Dance, Bucket List, Crafts, Recipe and my personal favorite Quotes Board!  For this post I wanted to simply share some of my favorite quotes with you courtesy of pinterest.

That should be enough for now . . . . . although I could go on for days.  I hope you find something that you needed to hear!

According to my Christmas countdown app we only have 13 days 3 hours 45 minutes and 35 more seconds until Christmas! It is coming up fast and I can't wait.  Now all we need is a good snow fall and it will be perfect.
Finals week begins tomorrow and I must admit I am getting nervous.  I've been having nightmares of the testing center the past week!  I just hope all my studying and practicing will pay off these next couple of days.  Good Luck to all my fellow students this week!
Last week I was called to be the new Relief Society Secretary for my ward.  I am getting more and more excited about being apart of this presidency.  We have already got the creative juicies flowing and I really think we are going to make some good changes.  I am very grateful for this opportunity to serve the women in my ward.
I found this scripture and thought it was kind of perfect. I hope you like it too.
"Let your hope make you glad.  Be patient in time of trouble and never stop praying."   Romans 12:12
Never stop Praying!
P.S.  it is now 13 days 3 hours 35 minutes and 44 seconds until Christmas!!

As many of you know I am a music junky!  I love love love the beauty of music.  This week my testimony of the power of music was strengthened.  I find it very difficult not to feel the spirit when the hymns are being sung.  This week I attended the BYU Christmas Choir Concert with my family.  There was such a sweet spirit in the air that afternoon as I sat with my family and listened to the prayers being sung by the choir.  I am grateful for all the hard work of those choirs and their willingness to share their talents.
"Inspiring music may fill the soul with heavenly thoughts, move one to righteous action, or speak peace to the soul."
-- President Ezra Taft Benson, Ensign, Nov. 1974, 67

This Friday was my mom's birthday.  She is AMAZING! I don't know why I got so lucky to have her as my mom, but I am very grateful I do!  For her birthday I gave her a jar full of 50 reasons I love her.  It was all too easy to come up with 50 reasons.  I love her so much!  I am grateful for the knowledge and blessing of eternal families.  I can't imagine not being with her or the rest of my family forever.

Do not look back, and grieve over the past
 for it is gone;
Do not be troubled by the future,
for it has not yet come.
Live in the present, and make it so beautiful
that it will be worth remebering.

-Unknown
What a beautiful quote.  It is certainly easier said than done. Living in the present is something I want to work on.  I want to dream big, work hard, laugh often, learn daily and love a lot.  I have always used the expression "no regrets".  To look back on this life and regret not giving it my all would be a sad thing.  So today I am promising myself to "Live in the present, and make it so beautiful".
This week I took a moment to think about all I am grateful for.  Of course my family was top of my list, followed by friends, education, talents, opportunities, my home, my teachers, where I live and my job.  After making this list I got thinking about the gospel and all the blessings I recieve from having it in my life.  So I made a second list.  I am grateful for the church, the Temple, The Book of Mormon, the Prophet, my leaders, prayer, the Atonement and my Savior Jesus Christ.  I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  It gives me strength and hope everyday.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart."  Proverbs 3:5

Three keys to happiness:
1. Go to the Temple
2. Attend Institute
3. Listen to Adele Radio on Pandora!

What a great week!  This Monday for FHE our ward made school kits for underprivileged children in Mexico.  This activity made me excited to do more service.  My dream is to travel to Peru with my dad and serve the people there.  Someday someday.  Tuesday my dear friend Alexa and I went to the Provo Temple!  How blessed are we to have so many Temples we can attend.  As we were leaving the Temple we decided to make the goal to visit every Temple in Utah by the end of April.  We already have two down!  Wednesday is the best day of my week because that is the day I go to Institute.  Brother Lewis has me smiling and feeling the spirit the entire time I am there. The blessings you receive by going to Institute are incredible.  I would encourage everyone that can to attend.  Thursday I listened to ALOT of Adele Radio.  She really needs to stop reading my diary! Haha every song of hers seems to be exactly what I need to hear.  Friday was roommate pancake party!! Boy oh boy were they delicious.  We are all starting to finally figure out this cooking thing.  Saturday was crazy.  While out for dinner (cafe rio!) with a friend the nicest man came up to us and offered us two tickets to the BYU football game.  Third row!  We had a blast and the team played great.  Blessings of going to the Temple?? Perhaps haha.  Today before going to church I listened to the talk given by President Boyd K. Packer in this Octobers General Conference.  I loved that he talked directly to the youth and young people of the church.  Sundays have become one of my favorite days. So lucky to have the fullness of the gospel in my life!

I finally did it! I started a blog.  I am going to try my very best to post every Sunday.  For my first post I want to talk about my incredible friends!  I have had a weekend full of crazy, silly and exciting experiences with some of my wonderful friends, new and old.  I was brought back to my Junior High School days this weekend when I was able to have a slumber party with my three girls.  Alexa Schmidt, Misti Hill and Lauren Wardell know exactly how to get me going.  Our night consited of girl talk, alot of laughing and the occasional cry.  It was exactly what I needed to get me through this upcoming week.  I was also able to get in some good laughs this weekend with my good friend Daniel.  We always have a blast together.  I am sure most of you know this past friday was 11-11-11.  It was a day I will most certainly never forget.  I had the chance to perform 11 acts of service with some incredible people.  It wasn't easy, but I can confidently say we accomplished our task and hopefully helped some individuals out.  To top of the weekend I was able to attend two missionary farewells today.  I feel very lucky to know such worthy and strong young men that are willing to serve the lord and their fellow brothern.  I wish them all the luck and know they will do a sensational job! I will be forever thankful for my friends.  I love them all!
Love,
Savannah
